Sinus tachycardia

What is Sinus tachycardia?
Sinus tachycardia is condition that sinoatrial node heart rate frequency is more than 100 times per minute in adults. This is the most common form of tachycardia, often associated with sympathetic excitation and vagal tone lower. It is not a primary arrhythmia, caused by a variety of reasons. Physiological state can exercise, anxiety, agitation caused may also occur in the application of adrenaline, isoprenaline after drugs. In fever, lack of blood volume, anemia, hyperthyroidism, respiratory insufficiency, hypoxemia, hypokalemia, heart failure and other heart diseases can easily occur when. Disease in the control of the primary lesion after a predisposing factor or curable, but easy to relapse.

What are causes of Sinus tachycardia?
Healthy exercise and emotional stress also can cause tachycardia. Wine, tea, coffee and drugs such as isoproterenol and atropine often caused by sinus tachycardia. Common causes of sinus tachycardia is fever, hypotension, hypoxia, cardiac insufficiency, anemia, hyperthyroidism, and myocarditis. Sinus tachycardia also can be found in organic heart disease and extracardiac factors. Sinus tachycardia causes is sympathetic excitement and vagal tone lower, include risk factors as follow:

1. Physiological: physiological sinus tachycardia is very common, and many factors affect heart rate, such as postural changes, physical activity, food digestion, emotional anxiety, pregnancy, excitement, fear, excitement, drinking, smoking, tea, etc., will keep the heart rate faster. In addition, age is also a factor, children are often a faster heart rate.

2. Drug-induced: such as sympathetic to drugs such as ephedrine, epinephrine. Parasympathetic blocking drugs such as atropine, caffeine, thyroid hormone, amphetamines and so on can cause tachycardia.

3. Pathologic: systemic diseases, such as: high fever, anemia, hypoxia, infections, hyperthyroidism, pain, acute rheumatic fever, such as beriberi and Neurosis can cause tachycardia.

4. Cardiovascular disease: acute blood loss, hypotension and shock, arteriovenous fistula, heart failure, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, pericarditis, acute myocardial infarction and a variety of organic heart disease can result in sinus tachycardia.

What are symptoms of Sinus tachycardia?
1. Palpitations, or sweating, dizziness, vertigo, fatigue, or the performance of primary disease.

2. Can be induced by other arrhythmia or angina.

3. Heart rate for 100 to 150 times / min, heart sounds are mostly strong, or signs of primary heart disease.

How is diagnosis for Sinus tachycardia?
1. Heart rate to 100-150 times / min, regular heart sounds strong. Can the performance of the primary disease.

2. Electrocardiogram examination: was sinus rhythm, P wave morphology of normal, P-R interval is greater than 0.12 seconds, the frequency of more than 100 times / min.

How is treatment for Sinus tachycardia?
If Sinus tachycardia is caused by physical or outside heart factors, general do not need special treatment. If sinus tachycardia have Pathological causes, treatment is mainly directed against the cause and remove the trigger factors, such as the treatment of heart failure, to correct anemia, hyperthyroidism, such as the control. Tachycardia arising from the symptoms can be given medication to slow down the heart rate, such as metoprolol.

How is prevention for Sinus tachycardia?
The first, should be avoided incentives, such as drinking strong tea, alcohol and exciting applications to speed up the heart rate of heart drugs. To maintain a pleasant mood, to guard against over-excitement and anxiety. For heart and lung diseases or other systemic diseases should be actively treated. On a recurring problem, the symptoms affect daily life and work, should be treated as soon as possible to identify the reasons for the benefit of prevention and treatment.
