Osteopoikilosis

Osteopoikilosis, also called osteopathia condensens disseminata and spotted bone. Appear on the majority of the whole body bone density of the spots spread. Osteopoikilosis is a rare fragile bone disease. Occur in men more than women, the majority of adults age.

Osteopoikilosis Causes: Unknown Causes. It is a congenital dysplasia and have genetic and family history. Generally think that causes is autosomal dominant inheritance.

Osteopoikilosis Symptoms: No symptoms, 20% of patients have pain-related symptoms, particularly in the sacral vertebrae. Sometimes occur nodular hyperplasia of skin and prone to form keloids.

Osteopoikilosis Diagnosis: Diagnosed by X-RAY, CT and MR.
1, X-ray examination is the detection and diagnosis of Osteopoikilosis. X-ray was filled with multiple lesions of the round, round, or integration into a compact mass strip and shadow, is located in cancellous bone, the bone long axis running with the same basic bilateral symmetry, the size of a few mm to 2 between cm; more lesions near the joints the more intensive the higher density; the vast majority of high-density lesion center edge of the low density, a small number of low-density lesion center, but were clearly marginal; lesions does not infringe on periosteal and articular cartilage, joint clear space.

2, CT can be more clearly show the lesion site, size, shape, and the relationship between the cortical bone, but also found that X-ray showed small lesions difficult. CT showed lesions located in cancellous bone and trabecular bone distribution line is located in a small number of cortical bone or cortical bone, the corresponding parts of the density of cortical bone thickness increased. Mostly round or oval high-density nodules, clear borders, and some positive changes in mass.

3, MR showed multiple lesions scattered unevenly within the cancellous bone, round in shape, round and irregular nodular abnormal signal strip in both T1WI and low signal on T2WI, clear boundaries, together with multiple foci as a "honeycomb" no abnormal soft tissue signal.

Osteopoikilosis Treatment: Asymptomatic, no deformities, without any treatment.
