Malignant melanoma Types
Types of Malignant melanoma and clinical feature as follow:
1. Malignant melanoma in situ: on the histology, where atypical melanocytes confined to epidermal and adnexal epithelium known as malignant melanoma in situ, and its biological behavior is benign, can be divided into 3 types:
1) malignant mole freckle.
2) superficial spreading melanoma in situ.
3), freckle-like acral melanoma in situ.
2. Invasive malignant melanoma: When the lesions increased to 4 ~ 5mm width, not the typical nests of melanocytes often invasive leather down with a vicious act, now known as invasive malignant melanoma. Divided into 4 categories:
1) lentigo maligna melanoma: is lentigo malignant growth from the invasion took place, was particularly prevalent in the elderly face, often the basis of the original damage to one or a few blue-black nodules that have invasive growth within the dermis . Although the whole process of relatively slow growth, but once the development of malignant melanoma, its prognosis than other types of melanoma well. More inclined to regional lymph node metastasis, 5-year survival rate of 80% ~ 90%.
2) superficial spreading melanoma: grade in situ from the superficial spreading melanoma developed from, or pagetoid melanoma, some damage and a fat hard papules or nodules, sometimes verrucous was, if ulcers and bleeding, while signs for the late. 5-year survival rate was 70%.
3) acral lentiginous melanoma: occurs in the palms and soles, nail bed with a week of the site, especially the foot. Damage manifested as nodules, can easily rupture and hemorrhage.
4) nodular melanoma: the plaque began to swell, deep in the nodule or nodules, black or green black, quickly increase and rupture, or hyperplasia, such as mushroom-like or cauliflower-like.
5) vevus cell malignancy: At present, on the question of malignant transformation of nevus cells, there is no consensus, but we can be sure of malignant melanoma can occur in congenital nevus cell nevus and dysplastic nevus.
3. Other types: amelanotic malignant melanoma: the beginning of the normal skin papules or nodules, after growing into a mushroom or cauliflower-like, like squamous cell carcinoma.
