Behcet Syndrome (Behcet's Disease) Causes
Causes of Behcet Syndrome (Behcet's Disease) is unknown, may be caused by micro-organisms (including viruses and bacteria) infection, autoimmune and genetic factors.
1. Microbiological infections: from isolated lesions of herpes simplex virus type Ⅰ, Behcet's disease may be associated with HIV infection or TB infection. Due to a significant portion of patients with Behcet Syndrome in the past or present tuberculosis infection or TB lesions, as part of anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients with Behcet's Disease have been alleviated. Part as a result of Behcet's Disease associated with acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis related to, and detect high-titer anti-O antibody hemolytic streptococci, the streptococcal infection in Behcet's Syndrome may be of significance.
2. Autoimmunity: a large number of studies have shown the existence of a wide range of Behcet's Syndrome immunological abnormalities, Behcet Syndrome serum IgA, complement and elevated C-reactive protein, serum was also found their own anti-mucosal antibodies and vascular smooth muscle, blood vessel wall in a variety of immune response of the sedimentary structures; Department perivascular lesions and histological changes of lymphocytic infiltration; peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets imbalance, spontaneous secretion of lymphocytes to IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8 and other cytokines; Behcet's Syndrome patients with active detection of skin damage to the anti-apoptosis protein Bcl-2 expression, while normal skin of patients with Behcet's Syndrome has not yet seen any expression of Bcl-2, Bcl-2 is therefore possible to extend the survival of infiltrating lymphocytes, and in the Behcet's Syndrome skin damage to play a particular role. The above study shows that Behcet Syndrome and autoimmune disorders are closely related.
