Amebic liver abscess Diagnosis
Amebic liver abscess is diagnosed by Hemogram inspection, Stool examination, Liver function tests, Serological examination, Liver imaging, CT, hepatic arteriography, radionuclide liver scan, X-ray examination and more.
Hemogram inspection: the acute phase of moderate increase in total leukocyte, neutrophil 80%, and higher secondary infection. Longer course most of the time close to normal white blood cell count or decrease more pronounced anemia, erythrocyte sedimentation rate faster.
Stool examination: a small number of patients with Entamoeba histolytica can be found.
Liver function tests: alkaline phosphatase increased the most common, most of lower cholesterol and albumin, other indicators were normal.
Serological examination: with amoebic enteropathy, antibody-positive rate of 90%. Basically, negative to exclude the disease.
Liver imaging: non-invasive ultrasonic detection, accurate and convenient diagnosis of liver abscess has become the basic method. Abscess abscess where the size of the site showed basically the same as with the liquid level above, and puncture or surgical drainage or positioning could be observed repeatedly Vomica exploration progress. The sensitivity of B-mode ultrasound imaging, but with other liquid lesions more difficult to identify the need for dynamic observation.
CT, hepatic arteriography, radionuclide liver scan, magnetic resonance imaging may show intrahepatic space-occupying lesions of amoebic liver disease and liver cancer, liver cyst help identify some of which CT is particularly convenient and reliable, qualified persons may be selected.
X-ray examination: the right common diaphragm elevation, exercise limited response or pleural effusion, lung, such as at the end there is the shadow of cloud. Left lobe liver abscess gastrointestinal barium meal time perspective we can see the lesser curvature of stomach or duodenal compression displacement, lateral film can see phrenic angle disappeared that caused by uplift of the inside of right Subcostal. Occasionally see in the X-ray light irregular liver liquid - gas shadow, quite characteristic.
