Acute respiratory distress syndrome Causes
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) have many causes, such as a serious shock, severe trauma, fat embolism fractures, serious infections (especially Gram-negative bacilli staining sepsis-induced septic shock), inhalation of irritant gas, oxygen poisoning, drowning, a large number of blood transfusion, acute pancreatitis, certain drug or narcotic poisoning.
The primary disease or risk factors for ARDS causes are as follows:
1. shock. Septic, hemorrhagic, anaphylactic shock.
2. trauma. Non-thoracic trauma, contusion, fat emboli.
3. severe infection. Bacterial or viral infection.
4. poisoning. Inhalation of toxic gases, N2O, high concentrations of oxygen.
5. aspiration. Aspiration of gastric juice, fresh water or sea water.
6. large-scale importation of blood inventory.
7. disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
8. Radiation.
9. other. Acute pancreatitis, uremia, gestosis, cardiac rehabilitation.
Although ARDS is caused by a variety of the primary disease, but when ARDS happened, the pathology changes of lungs always is same, mainly showed the permeability increased of lung capillary endothelial cells, pulmonary surfactant reduced, and ultimately result in pulmonary interstitial, alveolar edema, and hypoxemia.
